How to Register for an Early Years Education Place

To register your child for an Early Years Place you can collect and submit your application form to the ECCC who will forward it to the Pupil and Student Services Team.

Alternatively you can contact Pupil and Student Services directly on 029 20872922 and they will send all information and application forms to your home. When completing these forms you can specify that you want your child to receive their Early Years Education place (please specify English or Welsh Medium) at the ECCC and return them to County Hall.

Once your forms have been received by Pupils and Student Services and your child’s place confirmed and a teacher from your child’s nursery will contact you to arrange a convenient date for a home visit. This visit will be an opportunity for your child to meet their teacher in familiar surroundings and for you both to ask any questions you may have about how Early Years Education is provided here at the centre, how to help your child settle in to nursery etc.

The first day of primary school is an important landmark in any child´s life and parents are being reminded of the importance of registering their preferred school option with Cardiff Council.

Preference forms will be sent out to parents of children born between 1st September 2007 and 31st August 2008 in October for them to register their child to attend primary school.

Most parents will know the local schools in their area and which one they would like their child to attend, but will still need to complete and return the preference form which is being sent next month.

The deadline for returning the preference forms for all applications to primary and secondary schools is the published closing date of  Monday 5th December (12 noon).  If parents do not submit their forms by this date, their application will not be considered in the first round of applications.

There is still time to obtain a preference form:

  • E-mail your child´s name, address and date of birth to admissions@cardiff.gov.uk
  • Call the Admissions office on 029 2087 3816/3834 / 2909
  • Write to the Chief Education Officer, Education Service, County Hall, Cardiff CF10 4UW.
